Alicia Silverstone
Biography
Alicia was
born on October 4, 1976 in San Francisco, California. Her parents, Monty
Silverstone, a real estate investor, and Didi, a former airline
stewardess are both English and Alicia spent some of her summers as a
child in England whilst having a Jewish up-bringing in the San Francisco
bay area. She has two older siblings and she also owns a dog named
Samson, who is part rottweiler, part doberman and part pitbull.
Her early professional credits include a Domino's Pizza commercial and a
guest role on 'The Wonder Years'. She made her stage debut in Los
Angeles at the Met Theatre playing a cocaine addict in 'Carol's Eve' but
her big break came in 1993 with the lead role in the film, 'The Crush',
starring alongside Cary Elwes. This led to her being cast in three
Aerosmith music videos boosting her popularity. She also won roles in a
couple of TV movies allowing her to co-star with recognized actors such
as Raquel Welch and Tyne Daly. After a series of moderately successful
movies, of which some were given straight-to-video releases, she finally
found widespread recognition starring as Cher in the hit comedy,
'Clueless'. On the strength of this, Columbia Pictures have signed a
multi-million dollar deal with Alicia giving her the opportunity to
produce several films, beginning with the soon-to-be-released 'Excess
Baggage'.
Alicia has always been down-to-earth and strong of will, achieving
status as an emancipated minor at the age of fifteen in order to work
longer hours on her debut film, 'The Crush'. She is adamant about her
no-nudity policy in her films and repeatedly turned down her role in
'The Babysitter' until all nudity was axed from the script. Most
recently, she is set to co-star alongside George Clooney and Chris
O'Donnell in the latest Batman adventure, 'Batman and Robin', playing
the role of Batgirl.
